5月23日，辽宁省大连市人民政府新闻办公室官方微博发布情况通报称，大连“5·22”轿车撞人逃逸案件处置正全面有序展开，死者善后工作正在落实，伤者已得到全力救治。嫌疑人已排除毒驾、酒驾嫌疑，犯罪原因正在调查。
截至23日早8时，事故已造成5人死亡（4人当场死亡，1人经送医抢救无效死亡），5名伤者正在医院治疗。
