２０２０年１１月，美国单方面退出《开放天空条约》。俄外交部今年１月发表声明，指出美方退出《开放天空条约》对条约在加强安全互信方面造成巨大损失。俄方曾提出具体建议，希望在新条件下维持条约继续有效，俄方对美方未能支持俄方建议感到遗憾。
