12月12日，武威市天祝县传来好消息：天祝县被确定为白牦牛国家保护区。这便意味着，天祝白牦牛主产区成为荣列全国24个国家级畜禽遗传资源保护区名录其中一员。目前，天祝白牦牛、梅山猪、秦川牛、茶花鸡、北京鸭等159个国家级畜禽遗传资源保护品种，成为我国的“国宝”级资源。目前，天祝白牦牛饲养量达到了8.9万头，年出栏2.3万头左右，产值达1.84亿元。
