Last year, China had 1.03 billion netizens, with an internet penetration rate of 73 percent, while the proportion of mobile internet users reached 99.7 percent. People spent an average of 28.5 hours on the internet every week.2021年，中国的网民规模达10.32亿，互联网普及率达73％，网民人均每周上网时长达到28.5个小时，而网民使用手机上网的比例达99.7%。

Last year, 57.6 percent of the rural population had access to the internet, while 43.2 percent of people age 60 and older used the internet.

The platform economy is developing rapidly, covering daily activities such as travel, dining and accommodations. The number of people using the internet to order food deliveries, hail rides and book travel services has risen in recent years.

近年来，平台经济蓬勃发展，使用网上外卖、网约车、在线旅行等服务的用户总体增长。

Last year, the proportion of people who used the internet for work purposes and medical services rose 35.7 percent and 38.7 percent, respectively, year-on-year, due to Covid-19.

Extreme heat has engulfed parts of Western Europe, with wildfires raging in France and Spain, a worsening drought in Portugal, and the third-hottest day on record in the UK on Monday. 极端高温席卷了西欧部分地区，法国和西班牙野火肆虐，葡萄牙干旱加剧，英国周一（7月18日）是出现有记录以来第三热的一天。

Fire has spread across 27,000 acres in the Gironde region of southwest France, forcing 32,000 people to evacuate, the local prefecture said Monday night.

Japan's two-time Olympic figure skating champion Hanyu Yuzuru announced that he would retire from competitions and turn professional, at a press conference in Tokyo on Tuesday. 当地时间19日，日本两届奥运会花样滑冰冠军羽生结弦在东京召开的新闻发布会上宣布，他今后不再参加竞技比赛，但将继续做一名职业花样滑冰运动员。

He completed a "Super Slam" in 2020 after finishing first at the Four Continents Championships, before which he had collected the Junior Worlds and Junior Grand Prix Final titles in 2010, two Olympic gold medals at Sochi 2014 and PyeongChang 2018, two World titles in 2014 and 2017, and a straight sweep of four titles at the Grand Prix Finals, from 2013 to 2016.

US President Joe Biden's approval rating fell by three points to 36 percent this week, tying the lowest rating of his 19 months in the White House, as inflation takes a toll on American life, according to a Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll completed on Tuesday. 路透社联合民调机构益普索集团7月19日完成的一项最新民意调查显示，随着通货膨胀对美国民众生活持续造成影响，美国总统拜登的公众支持率下降3个百分点，降至36%，与他入主白宫19个月以来的最低水平持平。

Biden's approval rating has been below 50 percent since August 2021, and has hovered around its record-low since first hitting it in May, raising alarms that his Democratic Party is on track to lose control of at least one chamber of Congress in the Nov 8 midterm elections.
