天净沙·秋思

枯藤老树昏鸦，小桥流水人家，古道西风瘦马。
夕阳西下，断肠人在天涯。

Over old trees wreathed with rotten vines fly evening crows;
Under a small bridge near a cottage a stream flows;
On ancient road in the west wind a lean horse goes;
Westward declines the sun;
Far, far from home is the heartbroken one.

Like many Chinese poems,this poem is short, yet full of emotion.Without a word about autumn, the poet shows a vivid picture of a heartbroken traveler in the season. The first three lines consist of nine images. Most of them bring to mind life coming to an end anda bleak and chilly (萧索的) scene, such as old trees, rotten vines, evening crows and the west wind.Just as Chinese poet Wang Guowei said in his Poetics in the World (《人间词话》),“All scenic description involves expression of emotions (一切景语皆情语).”This scenery clearly shows the feelings of a lonely traveler.
这首元代散曲小令很短，却饱含情感。全文只字未提“秋”字，却生动地描绘了一个心碎的旅行者形象，通过“老树、枯藤、乌鸦和西风”描绘出了一副寒冷寂寥的场景。正如王国维在《人间词话》中所说的那样，“一切景语皆情语”。寥寥几句，一个孤独的旅行者形象便跃然纸上。
