China has been proactively promoting ESG and green finance development in recent years. China’s experiences and lessons shed light to other countries especially those in emerging markets. This seminar series aim to share latest practices, progresses, and successes on ESG and green finance policies, standards, disclosure, and NGO participation in China. The seminars will also look at the engagement with Chinese companies on ESG practices.

Overview: China's green finance development has four pillars, the first one of which is the establishment of a standard system for green finance. In this seminar, we will deep dive into the development history of China's ESG and green finance standards. We will sort out the development context and the practice of these standards. We will discuss why these standards are needed? How does China develop the standard framework? What are the rationales behind?

Overview: ESG and green finance movement in China involve various stakeholders. Participation of NGOs is an important part of it. This seminar will deep dive into NGO participation on the development of China’s ESG and green finance development. We will summarize the major stakeholders from China NGOs that play different roles in promoting ESG development in China. We will discuss how NGOs participate in ESG development and policy advocacy? Case study for NGOs advocacy and campaign movement in China. We will learn some experiences from the actions of China’s NGOs.

Shanghai Pudong New Area CCM CSR Promotion Center (CCM)
CCM promotes ESG disclosure mainly through tailoring researches and stakeholder engagement. By including targeted stakeholders in events in which CCM’s relevant researches are shared, stakeholders are very likely to be subject to important ESG information which could lead to key decision making. Based on the research capabilities and consulting experience of the initiator SynTao, CCM has carried out several research projects. Every year, CCM publishes ‘Top 10 CSR trends in China’, ‘Top 10 Responsible Investment Trends in China’, and ‘CSR Manager Survey’. The Material and Quantitative Indicators (MQI) developed by CCM and SynTao received the UNCTAD ISAR Honor 2019. CCM also organizes China SIF and CRO Global Responsibility summit.
