2022年，常州市蔬菜播种面积28.4千公顷，蔬菜及食用菌总产量97.5万吨，比上年增长1.5%；瓜果类总产量10.6万吨，比上年增长0.9%。农户充分利用家前屋后闲置土地和闲置劳力等“两闲资源”，适度规模连片露地种植本地蔬菜品种，发展绿色食品级别的地产蔬菜，打造“精美小菜园”名片。全年完成“菜篮子”工程绿色保供基地建设规划（2021-2025年），建成25家精美小菜园（标准园），绿色蔬菜保供基地建设提升2.8千公顷，绿色蔬菜占比超50%。
