The countermeasures of foreign language discipline in the AI era

Due to the development of AI, foreign language majors have encountered challenges, leading many universities to stop recruiting related undergraduate and master's students. Statistics show that 101 universities have canceled some of their undergraduate foreign language majors from 2018 to 2022. To improve their competitiveness, university foreign language schools have begun to create integrated majors, such as "Foreign language +" interdisciplinary courses. Shanghai Jiaotong University offers a course in "language pathology", while Shanghai University of Finance and Finance has formed a "psycholinguistics" team and partnered with SAP to develop language technology courses. Shanghai University of International Business and Economics cooperates with international organizations to provide practical and professional development opportunities and offers micro-majors in regional and national studies.
