12月28日上午，有网友发视频称，广东茂名电白区某商场上方一在建酒店冒出滚滚浓烟，疑似发生火灾。附近一位商户表示，火大概烧了十几分钟就被扑灭，目前酒店仍在施工。
28日下午，大象新闻记者致电茂名消防，一名工作人员表示，火已被扑灭，无人员伤亡。
