4月14日，伊拉克中部和南部遭遇今年以来最大一场沙尘暴，一些地区的能见度不足1公里，超过1800人因沙尘暴引发的呼吸道问题被送往医院。严重沙尘暴致伊拉克局地天空变橙红色。伊拉克被联合国列为最容易受气候变化影响的国家之一，经常遭遇沙尘暴和极端高温天气。
