2023年6月，一中国女游客自述在马尔代夫知名酒店居住期间，遭该酒店管家性侵。当事人表示，事发至今近两年，案件虽已被马代警方以“Criminal sexual contact（刑事性侵触罪）”罪名立案，但案件进展缓慢，两次DNA检测结果至今未公开，“我也未收到管家被逮捕或拘留的任何回复。”
